Hsbc

I had a CC with HSBC and cleared it about 5 years ago, but for some reason I paid about £29 too much.

This has sat as a credit on my account for the past 5 years. now they have sent me a letter stating it is against policy to allow a CC to be in credit and to call them to make arrangement to have this money paid into a bank.

So I called them on the number on their website, not the number on the letter. They said it was right that they had sent me a letter and that I could have the refund. Buit they needed the expiry date of the card. Now I cut this card up and sent it back to HSBC in 2001 so I have no idea what the expiry date is. So the guy told me to go to my branch, so this morning I went.

Got there only to be told that the 3 forms of ID I provided were insifficient and that they neededto see the card. Despite explaining that I do not have the card, it made no difference.

I have been told that unless I providethe expiryt date I can not even write to them as it is a required part of identification.

So what do \I do, they write and tell me that I have to have this credit, but wont let me get it?

HELP???

Call up and ask for a new card. Then take the money out. Cut up the card and close the account.

If you're residing at the same address (and you haven't changed your name...through marriage etc), write back stating the branch position and ask for a cheque.
