We bought two tickets to see a comedian in our local town next month but have realised the date clashes with something else and aren't able to go anymore. I've tried to seel the tickets to friends but haven't had any takers as yet.
I was thinking of trying to sell them on ebay - although have never sold tickets on there before. Is it easy to sell tickets online and should I sell them for their face value (£15 each) or a less?
Any advice would be appreciated.

only advice i would give is make sure they are [posted by a trackable method like special delivery and dont offer cash on collection
or advertise them on www.scarletmist.com
its a website for tickets at face value0 -
Thanks, yeah I thought I'd send them by special delivery so that they were trackable - although I had been thinking abotu cash on collection but wont now.0

Oh ok, so cash on collection would be ok - can I do that on ebay?
You can say you can take cash on collection but you can't even say you prefer it and if a buyer pays by paypal you can't refuse it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I sold some Dancing on Ice tickets for a friend on ebay - and had several people contact me trying to get me to finish the auction early for their bids - which were under the starting bid. They normally start by asking how much you want for them and also tell you they're for their childs/mum's birthday and they can't afford the starting bid.
The ebay side was easy to do - just make sure you've got the money before you send them/hand them over. And be ready for sob stories if it's a high demand event.0 -
local town gig, you got a local newspaper to advertise in? or supermaket?
IF the gig is sold out, then someone would be willing to buy at face value for you to get back all your money. if not sold out, then go down to where they sell the tickets and stand for a few hours and see if potential buyers will buy from you, as opposed the box office.
if the gig is not sold out, then you will be doing really well to get what you paid for. In all ways selling it will likely be a local person that will buy, therefore cash in hand is the only way0 -
I know you have to accept paypal,, but it doesn't have to be your preferred payment method does it? I tell buyers that I'll accept PayPal, but prefer cheques - am I breaking eBay rules by doing this?
Unfortunately yes you are breaking the rules, you cannot say you prefer a non paypal payment.
You can still list cheques, postal orders, bank transfers etc but it is unlikely anyone will use anything other than paypal. However on collection items many people will offer cash which is best!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can you sell them back to the box office?
If you decide to sell on eBay then be aware that if you post the tickets on a Friday using Special Delivery then they might not get to the buyer until the Monday morning which could cause trouble if the gig's on the Saturday night!0 -
I see alot of people on eBay these days seemingly getting away with lines such as:
'I know it says I accept PayPal but I don't because it's broke so sorry cheques only!'0
