Virgin Media Missed Appointment

I cancelled my Virgin Media TV and broadband a month ago and then proceeded to be bombarded with people offering me lower price packages to try and tempt me to stay. I had already made the decision to switch to Sky and it irritates me that becuase of this they can suddenly reduce my charges. So they have been ripping me off for how long??

Anyway, on my final call from Virgin they said I needed to be available for someone to collect my box on 11th Septmeber. This wasthen confirmed in a letter they sent to me.

So dutifully I took a day off work and waited and waited and waited.

At 5pm I had to run an errand, so I rang Virgin to ask where they were?

I got through to an Indian call centre and was informed that the job was closed inidcating they had visited and collected the equipment.

I said that this was not true as I was looking at the box and had been at home all day and nobody had ever called.

This stumped the call centre, so I had to ring another number.

They then informed me that due to the age of the box they probably didnt want it. I was not happy. A day off work and they dont even want the equipment.

My question is what do I do now....I still have their equipment and they just probably don't want it back?! have lost a day of my holiday entitlement when they had no intention of ever picking up the box.

How can these companies be allowed to get away with this.

  • You had a day off so a multi-billion pound company can collect a second-hand, low-value, car boot item?

A company wishes to collect an item, which has a value of about nowt, and you take a day off work.

Why? I guess, is my point.
  • Because the letter states they will charge me £150 if I do not have the item available for collection.
  • This is not un comman with this company unfortunatly they will prob miss the next appointment and the one after that and the one after that. I should know from experience

You cannot be expected to be available for an entire working day just on the off-chance that they may call.

    I'd've told them this.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing :)

It was not an off chance...it was a firm propmise by telephone and letter that they would attend

I see, the old "this horse is a certainty, it can't lose" line. They don't always win you know.

Ring them up and ask for a prepaid label, then send back the box.

    Problem solved.
