Help Please Java Update Making MSE Slow

Hello, I updated my Java because it told me to, and now when I click on links, the laptop is slow to catch on so every new tab I want to open takes a few seconds extra ....

Is there any way I can get Java and MSE to like each other better? because the other option which I tried is system restore to before the update and tell Java to stop telling me it wants to update.....

Thanks :)

Firstly I'd uninstall the previous versions/updates of Java (the older versions stay on the system unless uninstalled). Also is Java running all the time in your system tray? It shouldn't be and the MSE site doesn't use any Java apps so it wouldn't call on it anyway. Also not mentioned which browser you're using.

Oh, I'll try removing now, I was using IE7 but now on IE 8 beta due to the facebook issue. I'll also check if it runs all the time cause I can't see it :)

Not sure how IE8 changes the Facebook thing. Also beta software by definition isn't the final product and so can't be ruled out when there are problems.

The java problem seems to have gone with the ie8 beta & the ridding of old versions, how do I set it not to run all the time please? :)

Awe :( I don't really like Firefox - I couldn't get used to the buttons being in different places, I guess I could try again :)

The buttons can be moved about very easily. Go to the customise menu: view>toolbars>customise. Use that little hand you get to drag them around to wherever you like.
