You know what I really like this site, theres a lot of knowledge on here. I dont tend to post often buit have learnt a lot just by reading some of the posts on this forum.

But what annoys me is the horrible patronising replies people often seem to get when asking a simple question. The guy asked a simple question and got flamed almost straight away, its enough to put anyone off posting on here for fear of getting flamed for asking the wrong question or having the wrong opinion and frankly is one of the reasons why I dont post too often, because its very offputting!

The majority of the replies give very good advice and I agree with mostof the replies but dont understand the need for some to be so bloody patronising!!!!

    rant over :)

You are spot on. There are many armchair experts on this site and many of them know nothing.
I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.
  • I think you would be wise to put the money in a high interest savings account and wait it out for a while. Id say for probally a year or two depending on how things go. At the moment with things being so unsettled it would be madness to invest unless you really need to (homeless etc). Good luck for when you do though!!!

P.s....there are some good tenants out there:-)

Umm, he didn't say what you think he said. He actually said the advice given was good but complained about the way it was presented:

Too many late nights helping clients, methinks, pay attention at the back there, Griffiths!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I know what you are saying and I know what he said. It just cheeses me off sometimes when people come on here spouting their opinion as fact (when it's often the opposite) and often belittle the poster who has a totally valid concern or query.

People come on here for answers and help but get shot down in flames and it's not very nice to see.

There's a difference between a bit of banter and bullying, I agree. There's something about this anonymous posting (well, not in your case) that brings out the worst in people.

Also, what seems like banter to the banterer may feel like bullying to the banteree.

The same questions seem to come up time and again, though, so maybe there needs to be a FAQ?

This is a forum where people come specifically to ask questions. There are several questions posed in the OP and enough information provided for us to answer them on a more personal basis. That makes their query worth the time of day for some of us.

If there was a FAQ we might as well shut the forum down. What's it here for otherwise if not for asking questions? (oh, I forgot it was for people to argue the toss with each other over the same thing day in, day out)

It's for people to talk about their own issues as individuals, not for us to give stock answers. This place must be exceptionally boring if people genuinely believe there is only enough of an answer to be placed in a FAQ. Life outside one's front door is a bit more varied than that.

also worth baring in mind that a FAQ can so quickly fall out of date. what if we already had one and it had been written 18months+ ago, things do change, peoples attitudes and experinces can change,

18+ months ago there would have been people telling him he cant loose.

Not really. The regulars tend to know what they're talking about and we never really get people evangelising about 'property prices only ever go up' as much as some would have us believe.

Buying to sell always has to be a calculated risk. I would never tell anyone that it's a dead cert and it's what I do for a living
