Changed ISP - now email probs

One thing I found, being in the same situation....
I use Easyspace to send and receive, but when I used another ISP I could no longer send, and found that by changing the outgoing SMTP server to use port 2525 enabled me to send again. I am on Demon, but used an Orange connection when on holiday. Demon don't seem to mind port 25 being used, but Orange blocked it.
Some ISPs block port 25 if you're not using their SMTP server.
If you check the help on 123reg, it should tell you how to set up you SMTP outgoing connection so it can be used elsewhere.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
most ISPs have webmail anyways these days so accessing them from other locations isnt a real biggie imo (BT have the facility and im sure Talktalk do too.)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Thanks for your help.
We changed accounts on 09.09.08 and we couldn't access Pipex webmail from that day onwards (as we expected). Our domain name is our surname - so xxx@bloggs.co.uk. All emails use this address - we have never used our Pipex address and don't want to use our Talktalk one (or google or anything other than our own email). We were receiving emails to xxx@bloggs.co.uk for three days after changing to Talktalk, so assumed they must have been coming through the Talktalk server, but we haven't been able to send out since the changeover. Then, with my fantastic techie skills (not - who said a little knowledge is a dangerous thing), I've managed to muck up even receiving emails.
We registered with 123-reg more than three years ago and I don't remember how it was all set up with them - but I shall check now, I hadn't even thought about that.
Thanks again, wish me luck.0 -
Makes more sense now
Let us know how you get on Cornerstone:idea:0 -
you shouldn't really have changed anything but possibly the port number and that will maybe take co-operation from the hosting service
.
Many isps block sending of smtp mail from their network unless it goes through their own server, this is as much as for security as for ease of network admin.
If SMTP is blocked there are other protocols such as imapi that may be used depending on your hosting provider.click here to achieve nothing!0 -
Hi, just to let you know that I now have email working exactly as it should be. It was a combination of changing the address with 123-reg (thanks Giffas) and actually using the right address (doh).
Appreciate your help, everyone0
