Hello clever people
Since yesterday afternoon my laptop hasn't been working properly. It will (slowly) connect to a web page, but if I click on a link on that page it won't connect.
My wireless connection is working fine. So far I have run various scans (ccording to the malware/spyware removal guide on this forum), and have defragmented the hard drive (I don't even know what this means, just following advice found on the net) both via windows and with Piriform Defraggler. It does seem to pick up speed and work again ok for a while, then slows right down again, it's driving me insane!
Any scan I run now doesn't come up with any probelm everything seems 'clean'. I have also unistalled various unused programs.
Anything else I can try? Any advice would be gratefully received.
TIA

you may need a reboot on your router - modem . . shut everythng down and then restart it -
also try a trace route to that webpage you mention above to see if there is any problem..
if you go to START > RUN > type in cmd
then when the dos window opens up
tracert www. (whatever the address is)
it will show each step along the route with 3 time reports for each step in milliseconds..
anything which displays ** ** instead of a time means that step has a problem.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
What software are you using for your scans?
Have you got a fire wall/If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0
