National Debtline website has a large array of template letters -

  • Many thanks!
One more question please, has anyone had any success with AIC (Allied International Credit)?  I have offered 20% on a Natwest loan, wish I'd offered this to moorcroft before it was transferred to AIC!  thanks
  • I don't think Natwest have sold this debt as AIC are writing that they will be passing the debt back to Natwest, any suggestions?  Is it worth going to Natwest directly?  thanks

Has anyone had any luck with Capquest? They’ve offered me 10% off 🙄😒😅
30% today, they offered 20% in a phone call but on signing into the account it had a settlement offer of 30%

    Hello lovely people!

We're hoping to get a mortgage this year, however I'm wondering what to do for the best in regards to my debts.

I have a CCJ (which comes off my file this June) which is now at £1920 from just over £4000. Could I offer a F&F for this? Or will it do damage? I pay £30 minimum at the moment which is fine but obviously taking forever to pay off

Next I have a couple of debts with Lowell, one for just under £3k and two others at a couple of hundred quid. None of these debts are on my file. I pay £30 total for these 3 debts at the moment...again should I offer f&f or wait til after our mortgage application at the end of the year?

I'm petrified that it's gonna scupper my plans when I've worked so hard to get everything else looking good

    Thanks in advance!

It won't do any damage but you are unlikely to get a good deal, maybe no deal at all, because they have other enforcement options with a ccj.

    However, give it a try.

As for the Lowell debts, they are more likely to deal and nothing you do now will affect your credit file as it sounds like they've already dropped off.

Thanks Fatbelly! Tbh I don't really mind paying the CCJ as I feel it's been my wake up call to sort things out. Obviously it's been a slow progress but I'm getting there!
I'll think of some offers I can do for Lowell.. do you have to be in a position to settle there and then when asking? I assume you do?

I recommend making the initial offer in writing, basing it on the national debtline letter sourcrates linked to earlier.

Then if you need to phone to finalise the deal, that's OK. But get the final deal in writing before you part with your cash
