Credit rating - Is Joint Account Bad Idea? ? ?

since adding my spouse(who didn't have much credit/loans in her name) to the joint account, i have a feeling that my credit rating is hampered as I'm asked to give deposit for BT connection and also getting my case refered for CC and Mobile contracts- something which had never happened before.
i got my credit files from all the 3 agencies and except for my spouse's name added recently, there is nothing adverse or any wrong entries.
any idea what would have happened?
any way I can get back my better Credit Rating?
