Ive just bought a new laptop. Its an Acer Aspire One, and comes with linux installed. It has a messanger program but wone let me log on to my MSN account. As this is quite important to me i need to install MSN messenger. But it doesnt seem to want me to open the download so that i can install it. Does anyone have any ideas what i`m doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

After looking into the reviews for this laptop it says it comes with MSN Messenger installed, so what could possibly be the problem that it wont accept my XXXX@hotmail.com address?
BTW its saying that i`m not supported on the protocol?0 -
sorry for bumping this but it seems all acer one owners are having this problem, but at least i can still talk to my mates on the webbrowser.0

It needs updating. Chances are it's using the old MSN protocol. Microsoft change it regularly to lock out third party applications.0

Are you sure you have selected the right IM service?
Whatever client you're using might have support for multiple protocols (e.g. MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo, AOL, etc), So you'll need to select the correct one when you're entering your login details.0 -
I'd recommend aMSN. It's much more user friendly than Pidgin if you're a newcomer to Linux.
