EON Price Protection 17 plan - Capped Oct 09
Options
I rushed to take this out before the hike in prices and now wonder if I should take a look at all the new rates that are out - are they any cheaper than the one Im just in the process of switching to? My rate is only capped to October 09 should I look at capping or even fixing for a longer time ? Confused

V17 was approx 14% more expensive than the previous rates. Eons dual fuel price rise for an average user was 22% so you've got a good deal.0

Hopefully Ive made a good choice then - what about the fact that there are longer deals now available mines only until october 09 - not than far away really0

No it's not a long time but any fixed/capped deals are now at the increased prices so you'd have to make a decision to pay more now for a longer cap.
For example Eon increased dual fuel by an average of 22%, their capped deal is now 2.6% more than the increased price but for a longer time. So you'd actually be paying (if you were an average dual fuel customer) over 25% more for their current longer capped rate rather than the 14% more that you chose.
That's with Eon, obviously there's a choice and I'm not familiar with the figures for different companies.0 -
Oil prices have dropped considerably recently and the price of gas is supposedly linked to oil, but only when it goes up apparently!! The pound also strenghened, countries are going into recession. speculator are movg away from commodites like oil.
I think gas prices should be coming down under those conditions.
The current high prices have no justification as far as I can see other than greed on behalf of the gas suppliers.0
