Bond/Holding deposit help needed!

We were told by our letting agent that we had to pay 4 weeks bond. We have just signed the contract and got the keys and the landlord has come back to us and said we have to pay another 2 weeks rent as deposit. Can he do this? Also we paid a holding deposit of £105 whilst references were checked out. Can we get this money back now that we are moving in or can it go towards rent, bond etc. PLease help...we are supposed to be moving in on Sunday!

Do you have a receipt for the holding deposit? What does it say?

Was it just a "holding deposit "or did it include the costs of the credit checks?

What does it say about the amount of the deposit etc in the tenancy agreement that you have signed?

This may be a communication error between the LA and the LL but If both parties have already signed and the contract specifies the original amount then your LL should honour that agreement.

Keep notes on what is said by both the LA and the LL incl dates, and then put things in writing if you have further problems.
