You'll need to provide more information than this. Do you want to create your own website and are just looking for a cheap 'web host' who will keep your site running for you? If so, then you could find dozens of companies who would do it for a few pounds a month. Or are you looking for someone to actually build your site for you? Or are you looking to buy a read-made site?Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!

sorry for not being more clearer. I am looking for someone to build the site. I would love to think I could tackle it myself, need to be realistic though. Also, didn`t know you could get ready-made sites.0

If you were just looking for a web host I would recommend https://www.pair.com and https://www.kattare.com both of whom I have used in the past and would use again.
As for ready-made sites, obviously if you wanted one built for you from scratch, it would cost you more (though you might find some bright schoolboy/girl willing to do it for pocket money). You can buy various software packages in which you plug in your products and prices and they make you a website with a shopping trolley, secure checkout etc., Do a search on Google or Yahoo.
If you just want a simple, showcase website where you can display text and photos of what you do, without actually taking online bookings or making online sales then there should be a much bigger choice of software, some of it free. Last time I looked, Yahoo were giving away some software called Yahoo SiteBuilder, which lets you create your own site in a fairly easy way. And of course you can download free trial versions of things like CoffeeCup (which is good). Have a search in Yahoo and see what you think.Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!

There are quite a few web designers dotted around this board.. however we're not allowed to advertise services on the forums..
There are a few sites which list freelance web designers.. or ask other local businesses who designed their websites?
Or you could just google for UK web designers - however there's no guarantee the service is going to be any good and you will often find lots of template based designers - which is obviously not as personal or professional as bespoke design.
Going on recommendation is obviously a good way to find a designer.
I wouldn't recommend using a site builder thing like yahoo.. it won't look very professional and can be quite hard to get to grips with it enough to make a good looking, easy to navigate website.
If you do want to go it alone, it is advisable to learn some basic HTML first.. https://www.lissaexplainsitall.com is quite useful - although aimed at kids! Another site I quite like is http://www.xentrik.net/php/ - it covers the basics.
For a WYSIWYG editor that's free and not awful try NVU.. (google it!)..0 -

You can try by asking other websites whether they would grant you permission for using the pictures. Most will me happy to grant you permission but some may not. Also you can search for pictures that are freely available to be used from some websites or under the GNU License.0 -
what is the GNU licence. I`m sorry to sound ignorant but the person that is building my site requires me to source the pictures for logo and I don`t` know where to start. Is there a web site available for this0

See here: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=GNU+License&meta= and here: http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.htmllola_rose wrote:what is the GNU licence
Basically, if something is released under the GNU license, it is in public domain and other people can use it and modify it. Can someone correct me if I am wrong please. Thanks
