Ryanair announce new route to Bangkok

I wonder how many peoples eyes popped out, and how many thought 'yeah right, kiss my !!!!' LOL

It's a bit gloomy out there atm, so thought I'd have a bit of fun (don't forget to tell me off if this is considered a waste of bandwidth!)

Hypothetically how would it go? A fare of say £175 return, a stopover in Beirut, and no IFE.

Would you do a 10-14 Hour flight on Ryanair? Not just Bangkok, any such destination.?

Bring it on Mr O'Leary!!.

  • LOL, i will stick to Eva or Singapore thanks. Im sure it would still be cheaper than going with them and paying the extras they add on.
    :naughty:
  • all i thought..wouldnt risk it not now they are limiting fuel:eek:

  • Okay, so they add on thier bits and pieces - would anyone fly Ryanair for that distance? Hypothetically cutting the fare in half?

I've flown Brittania to Phuket.... can't be that much worse!

(I can't see emoticons, just red crosses, anyone else getting that or does my PC have issues!)

MyTravel flew a Phuket charter a few years ago just before the 2nd Gulf war....we returned via Bahrain and the US Navy refused the normal landing approach....so we landed in Abu Dhabi to take on a smidgeon of fuel....then went late to Bahrain for a proper refuel.....then carried straight onto Manchester. Took 18hours, never got out of our seats. Never again.

AirAsia were promising a KL-London cheap flight for this winter....not sure if it's going to happen now ?

If the price was right then I'd have not qualms taking a budget flight for a long haul route.

The problem is that it just doesn't seem viable - see what happened to Oasis and Zoom? The fares adverstied by those airlines ended up being a similar price to their established counterparts.

This is an old piece of news and I'm sure the fuel price rises have put this on hold .

AirAsia also announced on 11 May 2008 that it had signed a lease agreement with an unmentioned company for an Airbus A340, to be used on flights from Kuala Lumpur to London. It will receive the A340 in January 2009, and after replacing interiors, will begin the services in March 2009. [4]
AirAsia also announced on July 29, 2008 that despite recent record oil prices, it hopes to commence operations to London Stansted airport in March 2009, and will definitely commence by June 2009 [24]. Air Asia X is targeting $1000 AU return fares between Australia and the UK (including taxes and charges).[25]

Whether it happens is another thing, though they are already flying to Australia.
