Hi
Trying to use my ING savings a/c again (not been used for a while). However, since i last used it i have had to change banks & switch to a basic a/c. However, ING say i have to create a new link between the savings a/c & my new bank & this can only be done with a cheq for £1.
I don't understang the mentality of this. I thought ING was an internet bank & that cheqs where on the way out. They refuse to accept the intial deposit by on-line pymt or debit card even though the info on a cheq (a/c no & sorting code) are also on the card.
As you know basic a/cs do not provide cheq books & i can't upgrade the a/c yet as i have only just been discharged from BR. My bank has said they can issue a one off £1 cheq for a fee of £13, i am not prepared to pay such a fee.
Has anyone come across this prob before or know a way round it.
I am also thinking of complaining to the FSA about this ING policy as i think it is blatant discrimination against people with basic bank a/cs.
Thanks

Nah, :rotfl: Ive kept 1.00 with ING just in case they throw some more refer a friend referrals my way.
Im bit miffed as well, ING got told that I had changed my Bank Account due to A+L Current Account open/switch promotion, they automatically cancelled my linked current account even though that current account remains open.

It's a "Are you who you say you are" requirement of the money laubdering regulations. In the case of a an 'ex' current account that still exists (and was previously registered) it would interesting to see if ING would still require a £1 cheque........under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
