Littlewoods

My dad has been a customer with Littlewoods for as long as I can remember and my sisters and I often order stuff through him and have never had any problems in the past. Last week he went to order a laptop for me on their website, but for some reason it wouldn't let him have it delivered straight to my house (I live 200 miles away so it's easier to have things delivered to my house) so he called their order line and was told the order had gone through and it would arrive at my house either Tuesday or Wednesday. It had not arrived by the end of yesterday so my dad called them to see where it was. He was told that the order was cancelled because they won't deliver it to my house, it has to go to my dad's. But they didn't inform him of this when he ordered it, they just cancelled it! So now he has had to reorder it to be delivered to his house which could be any time in the next 2 weeks, then I have to drive up there to pick it up! I'm gutted. I just think it's disgusting that they cancelled the order without informing him.

Cancell the order and go elsewhere? Or pay for it all upfront-then they will probably deliver to you.

Trouble is,a company like this has to minimise risks. As they have not got the money up front-it is a risk for them to send an expensive item to a different address. There must be cases where longstanding customers move house, then try to get something delivered to temporary address then do a runner with it.

true - companies will only deleiver the item to either the credit account holders address oro to the name and adress which is on the creidt card companies adrress.

    this is to prevent fraud

also paying through littlewoods is going to be much more expensive than getting a laptop elsehwre and you will be in effect paying at least £150 - £200 more for the equivalent spec laptop if you brought it from dell or another retailer like tescos or amazon
  • If I had the money upfront I would definately go elsewhere, but I don't so that's why I wanted to get it from my dad's catalogue. It was in the sale so isn't a bad price.
I didn't think about the fraud thing!!
  • I had exactly the same problem with Littlewoods, except it was with an order for clothes!

I usually have my orders delivered to me at work (I spend half my life there).

I had been placing orders for ages and having them delivered to work and then all of a sudden they woildnt let me. I was told that until i had become a regular buyer and been with the company for a while, they would have to deliver everything to my house and that there was nothing they could do as the computer wouldnt let them change the address,

When i pointed out that i had been a GOOD customer for the past 10 years and that i normally had my orders delivered elsewhere i was told that it must have been a mistake in the past! HA!

Eventually i cancelled the order and tried a week later to order it again and low & behold i could have it sent anywhere i wanted to!

It is just sooo frustrating that a company of this size dont actually know their A from their Elbow!!

Silly question but if you've ordered so much from them over the years then why don't you just open your own account?
  • It is my own account, but i have ordered for others (family) in the past and have had the goods delivered directly to them, or as i said in my previous post-i have the goods to work. I leave home at 06:30 and get home at 19:00 every day, so im not home to take deliveries and its easier to get them to work.
this is why nothing made sense with their reply to me.
