Vista Service Pack 1

Hi

Wonder if you can help. My laptop (over a year old) is trying to install Vista SP 1 (KB936330). It states that it is published 9 September.

Trouble is, I thought my laptop updated itself back in March.

Not had to do any reinstalls or anything of the like. Any ideas why it is trying to do it again?

Thanks

  • hi

try the following to see if its already installed (dependant on the setup of your start menu)

start > type WINVER in the search or run box then click ok or press enter.

a small window will open telling you what operatin system you have .. it will also list the build and service pack if its installed ..

if it is there then i might just be an addition update .. microsft has been putting a few vista updated out over the past wee while

Thanks for that. Doesn't seem to say SP1. Puzzled as to why it wouldn't have downloaded it before now.

You have to install a few updates before it allows the SP1 update

Cheers. Always been uptodate but there we go.
  • March ...!!! Microsoft send updates each second tuesday of the month. SP1 also has pre-requsites before updating, also there is a backlog of thousands to do not everyone gets SP1 at the same time.
