i have some of those fleecy sleepsuits that someone else mentioned from primark and they are lovely and soft and very warm, i'm sure other shops do them and when my DS was in his sleeping bag thing i used them instead of pj's, or if really cold pj's fleecy suit then sleeping beg.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts0

It is 1 year for a duvet.
The 2.5 tog sleeping bags are designed to be used with a sleepsuit underneath in a room anything down to 14 degrees.
Could you put the heating on low on a timer just in baby's room during the night? Or if he is still in your room you could always have him in your bed if it is really cold.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Hi
Could you get a room thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature in the bedroom ?
I never put the heating on over night and I put them in a vest/sleep suit and a baby sleeping bag and it wasn't a problem.
To be honest when I tried adding extra blankets they kicked them off & still do.
You need to be careful about over wrapping because of the cot death risks.
As said by others always guage their temperature from their back or chest not hands or feet etc0 -
It is 1 year for a duvet however again this is personal preference.
My daughter who is now 16 months had to be swaddled as a baby as from the second she was born her legs were on the go 14/7 and she used to keep herself awake. We then progressed to sleeping bags and she has been using a duvet and pillow since 7 months as she managed to get one of her legs through the arm part with her arm(my son was in a proper bed at 7 months with duvet and pillow as he would not sleep in a cot)
She never keeps the covers on now, but if your baby is happy enough with sleeping bags stick with them. Agree with all other posters that layers are the way forward.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
If you buy a decent quality sleeping bag, ie: grobag, mamas and papas then the 2.5 tog is designed to be used in winter witha vest, nappy and sleepsuit. BUT my daughter seems to be a cold baby and likes to be extra warm so I put one or two blankets over the top if it feels really cold. I agree 18 degrees is colder than you think, I often wonder whether the thermometer is right!!0

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm happy to carry on with vests, babygrows and sleeping bags, but our house although very warm in the daytime, gets very cold at night (when we first brought him home, the thermometer was showing between 9 and 12 degrees, but he was swaddled then, and I could layer the blankets on top too as he didn't move around). We have had cavity wall insulation put in since then though, and the house seems to be staying warmer, so hopefully it won't get as cold this time. He's also moved bedrooms - to the back of the house, and this is a warmer room too.
I think I'll maybe try the fleecy suits from primark, I've seen these and they look really cosy.Debts May 09 [strike]£100 Od[/strike], [strike]£1550 boiler[/strike], [strike]£1750[/strike] £400 credit card  Goal - to 3k of savings by Oct 2009 in time for Baby num 2 :j Total so far £12000 -
My DD used to sleep in a gro-bag and I always worried about her being cold but she never woke up so she must've been ok. What used to get me was the tog rating. How come the warmest tog rating was 2.5 when my duvet was 13? Health visitor told me that because it was a sleeping bag it kep her warmht in and made her cosier. She slept with a vest and fleece babygro too in the winter. I wouldn't go for a duvet at such a young age as they often kick it off and aren't able to get back under.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0
