in Credit cards
i opened a natwest student account last week, specifically ticked the box i dont want a credit card. i got a letter saying that my card was available at the branch and i had to pick it up today. i got it and she said my pin would be sent by post no problem! untill ive just brought some textbooks on amazon and got a confirmation email saying
Amazon Payments has charged your credit card (Switch) for this purchase,
and the funds have been credited to your seller
the card is black with a maestro sign, i assumed this was the account card to get money out with. can somebody tell me if this is a credit card and weather im gonna get charged etc etc. little worried

A maestro card is only a debit card. this means that it is linked to your current account and any payments that you make with the card will come out of your account 2-3 days later.0

but just logged onto natwest and had to reset my account as forgot my password and it accepted the card number as my debit card. so does mean this comes out of my account with the overdraft limit and its not a credit card so i wont be charged. is it just amazons stupid wording of emails ??????0

I realise you're new to this and it's not relevent to the situation as you have a debit card, but you wouldn't be charged just for using a credit card to buy things. Providing you pay off the statement in full every month using a credit card will cost you nothing but the price of the goods.0
