aargh!! - No Paraffin at B&Q!

Help please!

Any OSers got any ingenious ideas for heating the greenhouse?
I tried to stock up on paraffin at B&Q today but not surprisingly, with the current cold snap, the shelf was bare :( . Incidentally it's 10% off everything at B&Q at the moment!

I thought maybe I could light a few candles, some charcoal briquettes or put white spirit in the heater! But I'm not keen on having naked flames around really.

Any thoughts?

TIA

  • No suggestions I'm afraid but that's the very reason we got rid of our parraffin heater. Supply was on and off. We ended up buying gaz heater from e bay ( ours was as new but used, but they do have new). This is just great and I think probably cheaper. Has auto cut off as failsafe so it shuts off if flame goes out. Can really recommend- no smell either. May be a good time to switch over to a reliable alternative with fuel that can be sourced more easily? ;)

Thanks for the suggestion - I may just have to go and find that gas heater tomorrow!

For the time being, I've lit some coloured Citronella candles left over from the summer. It looks kinda Christmassy!!!! Hopefully it'll keep the frost at bay for tonight anyway. Plants still look quite happy ;)
