Hi all,
With reference to my last thread about not buying office till you are at uni to share with other housemates on the same ip address, well i have just found that you may not need to get it at all!
I have now 'officially' enrolled and my university (UCLAN) offers a remote access facility so that you can view your university email account at home and do other things just like on a uni computer. This also lets you use all the Microsoft Office facilities for free! yey.
Hope this is in time for some of you before you splurge on the ultimate steal (i was going to get it myself this afternoon)

Thanks for this, the only reason I hadn't used your ultimate steal link was 'cos I hadn't set up the new laptop yet,; now I'll wait and see what's on offer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. That sounds like a nice feature that UCLAN have, I didnt know such a thing existed! Nottingham Uni have web based outlook, but never heard about word etc.
All i can say is, its the night before your assignment is due in and the internet breaks or their server goes down... Which creek are you up?
I bought the ultimate steal last year, and it really is the best offer around for students. I did also have the option of buying office off the uni and being on their licence for £10, but now ive got 2007, its well worth it for the extra features.
Good luck starting your course0 -
i wish id known at the time!0

He can access all the programs & files with out them being installed on his computer.Cashback sites are worth it:

PigsBack- £5.00 (£30 paid)
Topcashback- £40 (£40 paid)
Quidco- £50 (£43 paid)

I really like the Open Office programs.
You can spend a fortune on Microsoft software and it just goes out of date and becomes less and less functional with time.
Backwards compatibility, as well as compatibility with other programs tended to be lacking too. Open Office has so far opened and written to every related file type I have tried it with, in fact ironically it seems to have greater compatibility with previous versions of MS Office than MS Office does.0
