Christmas day this year we will have 14 (poss 15) for lunch and another 8 at least for tea. I will do a pan of soup with bread rolls, turkey, beef ( and a veggie option this year) with lots of fresh veg, home made stuffing and apple sauce, roast potatoes and parsnips, sausages wrapped in bacon. We don't always manage the pudding here!_pale_

Presents for children only, nothing too extravagant, it will all be paid off at the end of Jan when the bills come in, so "no" I won't be going into debt for Christmas.

The Baby jesus would have wanted you to keep your money in your pockets, I'm sure.

I've just recouped my ciao earnings - £31. That's going to have to cover the pressies. If I run out of money - tough. The rellies will have to go without.

I don't like 'em much anyway. Mah! Humbug!
  • Just bumping this up - it's getting to that time of year and I know there are lots of people worrying about funding Christmas.

My partner and I are just spending £5 on each other. And it's a competition to see who can get the best pressies with it!

certainly won't be going further into debt for Xmas. I can't, since I've cut up all the credit cards and will never, never, never use one again for anything, unless it's the direst emergency (which Christmas distinctly isn't, well not unless family members all try to kill each other I suppose). I've bought most of the presents already, except for the boyfriend, who won't nominate what he wants because he wants to think about it closer to the time (yes you guessed it, he leaves gift buying till the last minute, thus spending a fortune). I will be making some food, truffles, bickies, that kind of thing, rather than buying. I'm going round to someone else's on Christmas Day, so will do my share by washing up, rather than by forking out on the food, though I will probably make some kind of contribution, because it's the fair thing to do ...

I got myself a second job to help with Christmas and with clearing my and OH's overdrafts, and as I intend to keep working well into the new year, i'm not as worried as normal. Will be using my CC but will pay off what i've used at the end of the month anyway (and intend on clearing it in full on January 28ths payday or if I get my bank charges back sooner).

I'm having Christmas Dinner with my mum, her partner and my grandparents, whilst OH does the same with his family (then in the evening I will go there for supper). My mum and her man have been saving their Tesco CLubcard vouchers all year to get the special Christmas bits, and i'll turn up with the drinkies. For us it's all about who you're with, the bucks fizz (but with Asti and not champers!) and the meaty stuffing/devils on horseback.

pls mind my spellin im not very well this weekand eyes keep blurring
  • We're going to in less debt after Christmas than we were before. :) Everything we're buying is cash and only what we can afford, and any spare money is going straight into paying debts instead of being 'saved' and then spent. I can't wait to start off 2007 with less debt! :D
    Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
    Que sera, sera. <3
  • I have reduced my gift amount from 15 to 10 pounds for each of 16 nieces & nephews - a saving of 80quid!
I may even spend less if I can get books 3 for 2, anyone know if Waterstones still have 3 for 2 offer on?
planing for the future, living for today ;)
