Windows Updates not installing

Hi - just restored my dell laptop, and the updates (including XP Service Pack 3) downloaded but I can't download any more updates.

I enabled automatic updates but when it tries to install it fails. It does this every time, whether it goes via automatic updates or via the actual update website.

However it successfully installed Service Pack 3 but after that nothing else would install.

Using Win XP, Avast Antivirus, Windows Firewall. Any other info let me know and I'll post. Any ideas??

Install service pack 3 again,It happened to me SP3 said had installed so i thought i was good to go but there was a problem my PC did not know so i installed SP3 again and all fine now,

Thanks - but how do I find Service Pack 3 again on the update site if it says it's already been installed?

OK, SP3 installed properly... but laptop is being very slow and groggy.

It was quicker before I restored it!!! :wall:

Is this because of SP3? Would it be better if I restored again and just disabled all updates?
