Hi
Please could sombody off some advice.
I was loading a program on to my Vista Business Laptop, when I think I may have pressed several keys together by accident and it is now causing a problem.
Some of the shorcut keys are now showing just one program and when ever I press the keys this one program opens, not the one I want. Some are chaging back when I change the icon, other are not.
I did a backup before hand but I now cannot access that back up as when I go to the restore section it just opens up the program I don't want.
Can anyone suggest how to put it right or how else I can access my back up to restore it to the earlier version.
Thanks
Martin

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Thanks for the response.
I have or had, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, on my system but I now cannot use it.
I presume there is an association missing to make the program work, that may not be the right wording.
I did try and download the program again, but once again the program is either asking to an associated program or opens another program.
Thanks

Thanks Browntoa,
Tried that as well and same problem, it downloads and then when I press the button to run it, it just goes on to the internet.
I think there must be a major problem.
It just appears certain programs have whatever whatever makes a program run missing.
I will keep on trying.

I tried the on line scanner, it says it cannot gain files it needs from the computer.
I have a real feeling this may be worse than I thought.
Again thanks for the help, something will work, I will just keep trying.
I just wish I knew what is stopping programs working, it must be a Trojan as all security is being stopped.

Have you every used Daft.exe by Deckard.
This is a file extension error corrector.
Available here - http://www.techsupportforum.com/sect...ckard/daft.exe- Rename daft.exe to daft.com and double click on it to run.
- Read the disclaimer and click OK.
- Click on the Scan button.
- If it finds faulty file associations, they will appear in red beside a checkbox. If this occurs, just place a checkmark (tick) in the boxes in question.
- Click the Fix button.
