Bank of Scotland Credit Card

I have BOS credit card and have just received a letter that they have teamed up with Mastercard and would be sending me a new card soon. That means I can't use my VISA anymore! Why are they doing this? Would i be disadvantaged with Mastercard rather than a VISA? or are they both equally good?

Many thanks!

  • This is the first I've heard of it. I have a student credit card with them have never received a letter telling me they're changing to MasterCard.

I'm no expert but I'd say they are both equally good. I've only heard of differences in debit cards.

You won't notice any difference whatsoever other than that Mastercard is accepted more places worldwide. You still have exactly the same protection.
Many credit cards have dumped VISA and switched to Mastercard in the past cople of years. They are the now the preferred choice for credit card operators whereas VISA are preferred for Debit cards.

Yes, I have the same one as well and just got the letter in the post today. They mentioned that the card would arrive in a few weeks time. You should be receiving a letter soon as they have changed it to mastercard now. If you go to their website, they only do Mastercards now. HTH
