If Mr is the current claimant, get Mrs to submit a new benefit claim and there won't be a 1 week gap in entitlement.

That wouldn't work as they're both on the claim already I assume

Trust me - Mr tells Council - Cancel my claim. Mrs hands claim form in on the same day with the claimant/partner roles switched.

Trust me - this doesn't work!! As others have said, there has to be a break of at least 1 week.

Sorry I stand by what I say. Under benefit regulations, if a claimant asks for their claim to cancelled this will be done from the Sunday following their request.

If the partner claims, benefit would be awarded from the Monday following their date of claim so there isn't a break.

This is something that has been discussed with DWP and LA's at great length and is being used accross the country by LA's to save claimants having a break in their entitlement.

To me, this is not a new claim, just a straightforward change of circs. What about single claimants? How would they benefit from this?
