I want a Mac Book !

Please can anyone point me in the direction of a good deal for an Apple Mac Book?
mmmm, still seeking something witty to be my auto-signature . . . so this will have to suffice for now ;)

  • Apple products don't tend to get marked down or put on sale in stores, if that's the sort of thing you're after.

However, the Apple store does offer refurbished Macbooks, along with other Mac products. We bought a refurbished iPod and have been very happy with it, and when I come to replace my laptop I'll probably look to see what's available refurbished first!

If you know somebody who attends or works at a University then they'll be able to get educational discounts, which amounts to just under 15%.

John Lewis offer a free extended warranty on all Apple products (2 yrs rather than 1), Apple's online store sometimes offers one off discounts.

Some Mac dealers ofter have better prices and promotions, try having a look at the current issue of MacUser.

Apple education discounts are open to anyone who works in education (teachers, lecturers etc), or students.

You might be wise to wait until (rumoured) October 14th when new laptops may be announced. Don't hold me to that!

Yes there are rumors that 14th October new Macbooks are coming out with glass touchpads. Might be worth waiting, but again just rumors.

New models are usually released by Apple in the autumn, and they are then speed bumped or receive minor updates in the spring.

It usually means the "old" models become heavily discounted by dealers, so a good time to bag a bargain.
  • Thanks very much to everyone for the suggestions. I think I'll have a look at Mac User magazine and then hang on until mid-October when I can hopefully bag an "older version" for a sensible price. Trouble is, I know I am going to want the sexy new one with all the whistles and bells and oooh, a glass touchpad sounds gorgeous !!

Not very MSE savvy I know but, thanks to economies elsewhere in my spending, at least I have managed to save up enough money to buy one .. :rotfl:

Well, money saving is about getting what you want cheaper, not going without.
