Advice needed - laminate floor in bathroom

I'm thinking of replacing the nasty carpet in my bathroom with laminate flooring*. I'm probably being really thick, but what do I do about laying the floor around the toilet? Does it go under the toilet, or do I need to shape the flooring around it? Any tips on how to do it either way would be much appreciated!

(* I'm planning to use the stuff that is stated to be for bathrooms and have already read the threads discussing whether laminate flooring is or isn't suitable for bathrooms - in our case, we mainly use our en-suite and the bathroom is pretty much only used by occasional guests or when I fancy a soak in the tub, so I'm happy to take a chance on laminate)

if you really have to use laminate in the bathroom, then i would remove the wc/sink and replace again, after laying the floor.
but ceramic floor tiles is much better.
    Get some gorm.
  • i would get an expensive lino
  • I wouldn't put laminate in bathroom as first off they are very slippy especially when wet and also they are made from compressed fibre and being exposed to water will make it swell which will destroy it. I'd go for a good lino

    Hope this helps
  • As Gaz points out , you could be wasting your money, not for bathrooms IMO.
Alternatively ,you could have a look at Flotex , or cheaper Flotex type carpets.
They are excellent for bathrooms and will last a very long time.

You can find non-slip lino for the bathrooms. Can't remember where, but I have seen it myself.

Laminate is ok for bathrooms, and it doesnt need to be the aqua loc as everyone believes as long as precautions are taken. Laminate no more slippy than tiles. If not using aqua loc, use a joint sealer called clicseal or even pva (the latter will render floor useless if you ever need to take a board up though ).

best to lift toilet etc, but this in itself can cause problems as pipework may then need to be modified as its suprising the amount of difference it makes. If you cut around, use a profile gauge or template and silicon, although you can now buy flixible profiling from certain shops to cover gap.

Quickstep tiles are great for bathrooms using the clicseal and all the jobs I have fitted on have never had any return visits.
