From what did Robin Rimbaud take the stage name Scanner?
Police scanner
‘Of Air And Ear’ is being performed in the Paul Hamlyn Hall at the Royal Opera House on Saturday Sept 13, 8pm-2am.
Experience a new world of sound at ‘Of Air And Ear’, the latest sonic-art concert by the groundbreaking conceptual artist, writer and musician Scanner, as part of the Deloitte Ignite festival at the Royal Opera House.
Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner (from the police scanner he used in his early recordings), has previously collaborated with Bryan Ferry, Radiohead, Laurie Anderson and DJ Spooky, as well as the Royal Ballet and Michael Nyman, to give you some idea of his pedigree.
For his latest venture, Scanner has collaborated with the artist Sophie Clements, who specialises in sound and music. For this work, she has designed a breathtaking playable light sculpture. Scanner will be performing three live sets of electronic music and the percussionist Pete Lockett will also play live.
Please note: because of the short timescale, winners must be able to collect their tickets from the reception desk at Time Out, Universal House, 251 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 7AB.
G'luck!
