tel number for royal mail complaints

I've just had a recorded delivery item left in my open porch, I actually saw the Post man deliver it and scoot away without even ringing the doorbell.

I want to make a formal complaint about this as I am getting really fed up with the service offered but I can't find a tel number that doesn't go through to a recorded message.

Even the track and trace number I sometimes use when my mail goes astray is now just a recorded message, any suggestions?

edit: I've just found a tel number and am currently on hold...

I've had the same experience - Recorded mail left with all the other flats mail (We have one comunial box for four flats). The worst thing was that i was in all day and could have easily signed for it!
I emailed the seller to let him know that he wasn't getting the service that he paid for but he wasn't bothered as long as i got it.

I've spoken to the Royal Mail and made a formal complaint.

They were really nice on the phone and kept asking me whether the Postman rang the bell, or whether there was anyone else in who could have signed. However once I said I was here on my own and actually saw the Postman leave the item by the front door and walk away they just apologised that I had not got the service I was expecting.

I have a case number and apparently I will be contacted once they have made an investigation.
