Not only do you have a strong defence if there was proceedings issued, it would cost him tens of thousands of pounds to bring a claim for libel or defamation, so there's no way any reasonable solicitor would recommend that he do so.
A claim like this has to be brought in the High Court, and from day one to the end of the trial would be approximately £80,000 with a local solicitor, let alone a big city firm. There is a lot of talk in the media about slander claims and they always talk about the amount won but never the court fees paid (Elton won about 10 million a few years back but paid almost double that in fees!).
I seriously doubt he would waste that amount of money for some ebay feedback, so I would honestly not worry about it. I'm sure that it is just a hollow threat. I am a solicitor and we have people coming to our offices all the time trying to bring these claims but they nearly always decide against it once they know how much it will cost.

Your a bit high with the Elton John damages.....
It was based on the newspaper headline 'Elton's diet of death' which alledged he chewed his food then spat it out.
The jury found the statement by the newspaper defamitory (as he wasn't even at the party suggested in the paper!) and awarded damages of £75,000 (compensatory) and £275,000 (exemplary). (High Court). The newspaper appealed to the Court of Appeal and the sums were reduced to £25,00 and £50,000.
