Can anyone help re incapacity/tax credits?

Hi there, hoping someone would be able to help me out re Incapacity Benefit & Tax Credits. I work part time (18hrs p/wk) and my hubby is on Incapacity Benefit, we have 2 kids under 6. We currently receive around £90 ctc p/wk & £70 wtc p/mth based on my income of just under 9k and his Incapacity benefit as it counts as taxable income, so a household income of around 14k. We pay full rent and full council tax.
He has been called for a medical exam soon and am worried that they may stop his IB, hopefully they wont as he is more than entitled to it, but it seems they are trying to get so many people off IB nowadays.
Anyway, jumping the gun as I am a worrier, I have gone on to both the tax credit website and entitledto, and put in the figures if it was just my income, in other words if they stop hubby's benefit and he has no income, leaving us a household income of 9k. Both sites have given me roughly the same figures of £90 ctc p/wk (same as we are already getting) and £120 p/mth wtc, which is £50 per month more than we get just now.
We would lose almost £400 p/mth if the IB is stopped, and gain just £50 more from tax credits if this happens - can this be right? It is also stating we would get roughly £50 p/mth in housing benefit and council tax benefit, so all in we would be gaining £100 (£50 extra !!!!!! & £50 in housing/ctax benefit) but losing £400!!!! We struggle as it is and I cant see how we can get by on £300 less - could anybody give me any hope or is this right?

Hi and welcome to MSE,tbh i`m not sure if the figures are correct or not, personally i`d tele the council benefits office and the tax credits people for a definitive answer.
As to your husbands medical try not to worry too much,if for some reason he fails the medical you have the right to appeal,it seems that nearly half of all claims now get refered for a medical now,are you aware of the points system for the IB50?IF not post again and i`ll find a link to it.

Thanks very much for your reply Woodbine, no I dont know anything about the points system, is it possible you could give me the link? To be honest I dont really much about the whole IB system at all, my husband has been on it now for almost 2yrs and up until now has never had a medical, we have just completed the forms, returned them, and been told he doesn't require to send sick notes from the doctor. That's why I am probably worrying so much as we didn't expect it, just assumed that as his health hasnt changed in any way it would be the same this time! Thanks again for your reply.0
