How can I help my mum

Hi,
Basically I was aware that my mum has a large debt on a credit card, and due to reading numerous articles on this site, i've wanted to give her balance transfer advice etc. I sneakily opened one of her statements to get an idea and found she is paying PPI which is like adding on £70 a month to her bill and she always pays the minimum. I need to get her to cancel it, she was most likely self-employed when she took it out and is only temping at the moment so it may not even be valid. How can I tell her this, without making it obvious that i've been really nosy and read her statement? I only want to help her reduce her debt.
Thanks

  • Best thing you can do is be honest, and say you want to help her because shes your mum. She might actually grateful to have a family member who she can discuss stuff with.

In order to really help her, she has to be honest with you - you need to know loads of stuff like total debts, the APR of the card and her credit rating.
