Worthless cancelation insurance - travel lodge

I recently booked a couple of nights away with travelodge at a special saver rate of £29 per night, plus I paid an extra £1 for cancelation insurance. Now because of unforseen circumstance I'm unable to go. So I opened up the e-mail to call and cancel and next to the cancelation insurance is a note saying "Saver rooms can be cancelled but cannot be refunded. " now I was expecting to not be able to get a refund normally, which is why we paid for the insurance - if we can't get our money back what does the insurance actually cover?!

Should I fight for my pound back or do you think I should push for a full refund?

Also can we transfer the booking to another person if we sell it on ebay or anything like that?

You have insured, so you should be reimbursed by the insurance. If the saver room would be refunded, then there would be no need for the insurance.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?
• Does the cancellation policy mention the Saver Rooms?

Thanks Insisor - I get it now, I took out the policy *because* you can't get the room refundedfell kinda silly now! ha ha

Unofortunatly I've checked the policy details and it only covers some pretty specific conditions - so I still can't get my money back!

• Just like normal holiday cancellation then!
• Yes had same issue rip off raised it to Consumer Direct we had rooms booked and took out cancellation insurance to do a charity event to raise money for Orphans but the organisers had to move the event so we had to cancel and yes we found out the hardway you cannot get your money back so we lost it all , Raised issue to Travel lodge not interested one bit no flexibility at all we lost £156 so now the charity raisers will have to fund themselves.
Basically the cancellation insurance is useless you only get refunded if you die one of your party dies or your called up for active service .
Hope people read this will not ever recommend them and its damaging their brand by offering a useless add on. Beware

• I am so gutted at the moment. Tried to book supersaver over the phone as site I was on kept crashing. Told I could not. Went on line, went through booking. Went to submit payment and the screen went back to top of page. Still had the room in my basket, waited a while and then did it again.
I now have 2 rooms booked, I called straight away to say I had a duplicate booking and I needed to cancel a room. They said I could cancel but would not get my money back. I told them not to cancel room if I couldn't get my money back.
There is no number to call and only an email address for customer services. The money has been taken out of my account already and there was no help on a phone. I will not use them again. I also paid for the cancellation insurance but as the man on the end of the phone said that doesn't include the the super savers rooms. They sell you an insurance that is useless. To get the insurance back I need to fill in a form. I will do this but it is so annoying!
Has any one had success with getting a refund from Travelodge?
• I have done the same thing, made a booking & had to cancel through no fault of ours, now trying to claim back. I wish I would have checked them out first, thought Travelodge was a fair & reputable company..! Will let you know, the outcome.

If you had "checked out" what the policy covered before buying it you would have known what you could and couldn't claim for!

You have yourself to blame, not travelodge.
