Can someone help is there a big difference on gold plated scart leads and normall ones?reason i ask is a mate of mine purchased a rather expensive plasma and the store told them then need these scarts, but these scarts where not cheap and he was told by the installer of the tv that the store that he works for and installs for on big tv's said that the store rips people off by telling them they need these gold scarts and they make money on how many they sell,so he is going to take them back as the installer said the others do just as good a job.
would this be correct?

In short, if you've got a decent plasma set then it's worth spending a bit extra on decent, gold-plated scart lead. They don't have to cost all that much (Comet will quite happily sell you a vastly overpriced one), when you can get a pretty decent one for between £8 and £20 or so. I'd avoid the absolute cheapo "pound shop" leads. There are some links in the above thread worth checking.
As an aside: If the plasma set in question has component video inputs (i.e. Red, Green & Blue phono inputs), they'd probably give you better video quality than a scart connection. You'd need a separate connection for sound, though.0
