I haven't got a clue.......

But I've just ordered some memory 512 x 2 to upgrade my pc. Now, do I take out the old memory and discard, or do I leave it in plus put the 2 that I have bought in my pc as well? I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with XP.

Also, I've got a pci card to slot in. Should I do everything together or should I slot in the pci card and then check my pc works before then putting in the memory?

If you have free memory slots on the motherboard, you may as well leave the old memory in there. It's possible that you'll get slightly lower performance if the new memory is a higher spec than the old, but I doubt you'd notice the difference.

It's generally a good idea to make one change at a time on a PC as it makes troubleshooting easier, but you'd probably get away with it anyway.
