Update:
Pizza Express have stated that it s company policy not to demand that customers pay a service charge and are investigating why my daughter was told that it was.0 -

If you want to be moderator, why not email Martin and ask him if he'll make you an admin?
It makes perfect sense to add new material to this thread as it means that we can see some 'historical' content.
Why people feel the need to pass comment when people do the sensible thing and keep related material together in one thread is a bit of a mystery. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Again though, that is the company not the staff.
When you tip you're tipping the staff not the company aren't you?
It is entirely a personal choice whether to tip or not. I hate this pressure put on people that they HAVE to tip in restaurants. I do tip most of the time. However, a lot of the time I do it because it is expected rather than the fact that it is deserved and have now decided I will only tip if the service is first class.
Many people these days do jobs which are not well paid without the benefit of being able to make their money up through receiving tips!0 -

One reason is that you get people replying to other posters who made their point 2 or 4 years ago. Another is that the situation (e.g. Pizza Express's service charge policy) might well have changed in the intervening 4 years.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
And that harms who, how, exactly? One reason is that you get people replying to other posters who made their point 2 or 4 years ago.Another is that the situation (e.g. Pizza Express's service charge policy) might well have changed in the intervening 4 years.
Which just makes it all the more interesting to have historical context. It's always interesting to see how a company's policies have change and see if they respond to customer complaints. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
The manager of the restaurant has been in touch.
He says he has checked if the waitress had said that the service charge was compulsory and she denied it.
He believed her.
So the logic is that all the girls must have been making it up.
Pizza Express, I don't like the way you do business.0 -

How very strange. You object to this thread being bumped when relevant information is posted, yet you yourself bumped up a thread from 2010 not 4 days ago to add nothing but a stupid Gif.

And another thing...sorry a bit off topic but it is on the same theme of taking your money.
If you order this pizza, which gives you a choice of peppers, if you ask for jalapeño as your choice , the bill will show an addition of 'extra chillies', on top of the American Hot price.
American Hot
Pepperoni, mozzarella, tomato, with your choice of hot green, roquito or jalapeno peppers
