Will using confused, comparethemarket etc stop me getting Quidco cashback?

After using confused, moneysupermarket, comparethemarket etc I found an excellent car insurance quote that will also give me a nice Quidco payment.

However, I am concerned that my details will already be held by this insurer due to these comparison sites obtaining quotes for me, I have already recieved emails from 2 insurers after using them so I know that my details are kept by some.

Does anyone have any experience with this or can anyone confirm that I would still get paid by Quidco even if the insurer has my details saved from one of these sites?

Hope this makes sense, thanks in advance.

  • You have to click through Quidco and get a new quote in order to obtain the cashback.

Unfortunately, when you do that, you'll discover that you can't get the same quote as the one obtained via confused, moneysupermarket, comparethemarket etc.

In fact, you'll discover that going through quidco will only save you a few pounds on what was quoted by confused, moneysupermarket, comparethemarket etc. I suspect these price comparison websites get the same "cashback", but then don't give it all to you like Quidco does.

I'm trying to do the same thing now. :) Will get the best quote and start ringing insurance companies left, right and centre to see if they will beat each other's quotes. ;)
  • I would say so. I guess that Confused etc are effectively getting the Quidco (or similar) money themselves.

Quidco has loads of Insurers, get a quote from each. Laborious, yes - but £100 cashback has got to be worth an hour of your time (unless you are highly paid like a brain surgeon, rocket scientist or printer of fake money).
    Reassuringly expensive

fwiw, I just signed up for RAC insurance, should get £73 cashback, and the quote was less than my renewal quote form e-sure.
The RAC policy also throws in free roadside assistance, which is nice - we used to be AA members, but decided to stop it as we didn't use it, but it is a nice to have element, epecially as I'm now £75 better off.:D

You must do a new quote.
If you have seperate computers (home/work) or different browsers then use a different one for buying that you used for searching.
You can do it with one browser but there is less chance of getting it wrong with a different browser or different computer.

I've not found this when I've got quotes from Confused.com and then gone to the individual company, they have been within pounds of each other. As other posters have said make sure you clear you cookies 1st or better still use another browser for Quidco.I have heard that when using Moneysupermarket and then using Quidco that quidco wouldn't payout as the merchant had obtained details via Moneysupermarket.

there has been suggestions that if you've perviously done a quote with one of the comparisons they'll match your details and "give" the sale to the comparison site.

Therefore I recently did dummy quotes for a.n other from a spare email address so that when I bought the policy I could benefit from the quidco cash.

    Thanks Rabbitmad:
bought car insurance through More Than earlier this week, and am still waiting for it to track. I had earlier the previous day done a quote through confused.com; cleared cookies as advised by quidco before then clicking through to Morethan through Quidco. Now... my quote reference number starts with QC - and exploring my recent quidco click throughs, my click through to More Than is recorded. Unfortunately I am not able to submit a query through Quidco until 26 days have passed. I am concerned in case my purchase (through Quidco) is claimed by Confused as one mediated by them and therefore they claim the cashback. Please could anyone advise if there is a way of intervening - or is payment (to confused) automatic? Any information welcome. Thank you.

You get 14 days to change your mind and cancel.

You may be better off waiting around 7 days and if it still hasn't shown up on your account, cancelling and starting again.

There is a lot on Quidco about this problem with insurance companies paying the commission to the first agent who supplies your details to the insurance company.
