I've erased my itunes library by mistake!!

Hi, I accidentally erased all my itunes on my computers library, but I still have my tunes on my ipod, but I've heard if i re-connect my ipod to the computer it will erase all my tunes.

Anyone know if theres a way to re-install all the tunes on there safely?

great post just been to uncles and he has the same problem, looked at the article theres three different software they recommend the one that sounds the best is bittorented and not seeded!!! the second is mac only and I dropped the third one to my HD (Podplayer). Just wondering if theres any other freeware window apps that would enable transfer of the IPOD music to the Harddrive. He aitn got the songs anymore cos his HD died and he didnt back em up.

I have in the past used the 'enable disk usage' option, and just copied the folders across to my HDD (you may need to enable the 'see hidden files and folders' option to see them). They come across in the iPod format, so you could have multiple folders caleed F01, F02, etc. But this does work. You then disconnect the ipod, open itunes and import the folder where you saved everything.
You DO normally have to re sync the ipod, but you won't have lost anything.

marty the yamipod is the one thats torrented and unseeded!!!!

I did look on the Ipod as a normal device but the ipod renames all the music files (ADFW, JKLW ect) and I was reluctant to just drag and drop them cos my uncle is not that savvy PC wise and I would hate to have to test and rename 1000s of songs for him!!!! Also when we try to resync the IPod it is indicating it will overwrite the songs already on there.

Don't worry about the filenames. This is how the ipod names them, but in Itunes they all show up with original names and details etc.
You were almost there!

When it says it will resync and overwrite, it is only overwriting the files you downloaded from the ipod, so no difference. Go ahead with what you were doing. It does work!

Scroll down the download page to where it says "binaries". You want the Windows one. You don't have to use bittorent; you can download it directly.

hes a great man and would do anything for you but hes a computer nightmare. Just today I moved a window out the way with left click and drag, he said "How did you do that?" hehehe.
