Tenant left big electric bill

What happened with this?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

It would have been a long shot, but hopefully the OP managed to speak to someone at the call centrre that wasn't a moron.
I would never admit to being a landlord to a utility company. It shouldn't matter unless you've committed to pay the bills for a tenant in which case it's always your responsibilty anyway.
What difference it makes to their billing system to know who's landlord and who's tenant/homeowner I dont know. The bill belongs to whoever has contracted to pay it, no one else.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi there,
Usually the reason to ask for the landlord's details is just as a point of contact so that if the tenant has left the property, the landlord can be contacted to perhaps get a lead on the whereabouts of the tenant. When calling Southern Electric ask immediately to speak to their Escalation Team - this is a specialised area of the business who are experts in their field and who (hopefully) will be able to help get this sorted. Generally this utility is the best in the business for customer services though. Good luck!!0 -
Thanks for that comment. This is the sane way for utilities to deal with Landlords whose tenants have done a runner. Other utilities would do well to follow this, because the long term result of behaviour like the Electricity Co the Original Poster is dealing with will be that Landlords will just leave the Utilities to it, not pass on info and not get involved if a tenant does a runner.backontrack wrote: »Hi there,

Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0
