Electric Central Heating

amtrauk. The Aztec came out a year or so after the Amptec. To be honest, I fail to see the point in electric boilers. Electric heating is just brilliant, but why not go for panel heaters? The only time I have advised them to my customers is when a posh flat already has a fairly new radiator system in it, but the gas boiler has prematurely gone to boiler heaven.0

I have converted from a gas central heating system (Knackered combi) so hence still have the plumbing and radiators still on the wall. 3 x 2 meter single 3 x 1 meter single. At the moment I use convector heaters but suffer from the cold feet syndrome and was wondering if an electric boiler would be a suitable replacement and would be more comfortable also what size boiler I should consider.0

Okay. Find out what the output was (in kW) of your old boiler. Reduce it by a few kilowatts for an electric one (because it's almost 100% efficient) - and that will be the size you want. With electric boilers you can usually couple them So if you have one 3kW boiler then you can add three to it all side by side to make 12kW. You say it was a combi though, so there will be issues with a hot water supply. This would mean...
a) Individual tap water heaters (or one central)
b) Making your new boiler into 'heat & hot water' using a diverter valve and a cylinder.0 -
The old combi is very simular to Ravenheat RSF 820/20T. From the Ravenheat website:

Based on those figures I guess a 12kw boiler would be ok.
(Looking at the website makes me remember the Woooooooooffff every few minutes as the boiler kept clicking in and out)!
I use a Redring Powerstream 12KW on demand water heater for the hot water supply which Im very happy with.0 -
Just come back across this post... have settled on a 3Kw £30 convectors with thermostat from argos for the front room and 3 2Kw convectors for the rest of the house.
Sorted the cold feet syndrome, found all the heat was being sucked up the old gas real-affect fire - since removed and at the moment plastic bin liners taped across - draft gone.
Hot water installed under the counter inline with the rising main is a 12Kw Redring Powerstream to supply whole house how water works quite well0
