Does anyone have any experience in arranging a treasure hunt?
Im planning on arranging one for my car club in aid of the air ambulance.
It will be one where you drive about looking for clues etc but I have never done anything like this before, does anyone have any tips or advice please?
Thanks
Sarah

It might be worth asking the air ambulance if they have any tips etc, especially as you should always tell a charity in advance what you are doing on their behalf.
If you're fundraising in their name, perhaps using their logo, they need to know ... and they should be able to help publicise events to their 'other' supporters.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I found some fundraising tips on here:
http://www.wales.nhs.uk/sites3/page.cfm?orgid=115&pid=10284
They mention car treasure hunts.
I can remember going on one when I was about 18 (a long time ago) we would go off in pairs in cars and were given a set of cryptic clues that we had to decipher.
You could turn it into a scavenger hunt where they have to collect something and the participants have to use their ingenuity to obtain the items.
Have just found this site - its a chat forum about car treasure hunts:

I remember doing one many years ago in the evening.
One of the things we had to get was a sack of potatos, being late at night we knocked up an owner of a fish and chip shop we knew and took a full sack of tatties promising to fetch it back the day after - little did we know it was a cryptic clue for a bag of crisps
still have a chuckle over that one today!!0 -
I had another ferret on the internet today and found this useful site:

It tells you everything you need to know about organsing a car treasure hunt.0 -
My best advice is check, check & check again that the clues are still there at least the night before the event.
I agree cryptic clues are best and sealed envelope of final destination essential.
Also ask some questions BEFORE they set off to even things out a bit, say, about the highway code, the local area or better still the air ambulance service. If it's a number answer it may be a good idea to use the closest correct answer as a tie breaker.
We were once caught out by a question that referred to "a XXXX quantity of ?snow leopards?" We found out later it's otherwise called an Ounce! & they meant a weight limit sign. This was 30 odd yrs ago & I've never forgotten it!0
