the cd drive on my laptop has dissapeared

can anyone help???

i have no clue what has happened to it- on 'my computer' there is the c drive a d drive which it says is another hard drive and no cd drive- i have tried playing a cd a dvd and a program cd and it keeps telling me there is no cd

please help!

That would be easier to answer if you said what OS you have. But guessing it's WinXP, it may be the Upper/Lowerfilters problem.

i;m sorry i didnt know that was important! i am on vista and its an acer laptop if that helps at all- i'm looking at the site you posted now

did you solve this problem as I have just had the same thing on my laptop and its now fixed I might be able to help (a tiny bit as not very techy)
