EDF Energy - Breach their own T&C's

Options
EDF Energy recently wrote to me informing me of a price rise on the 25th July 2008 I received the letter on the 23rd of August, 30 Days after the increase.

It wasn't easy as EDF hide the notice required in their terms and conditions by stating they will notify us all in accordance with their "Supply License" I tracked a standard supply license down howver on OFGEN's website and discovered....

Energy companies are allowed to up your prices first and tell you afterwards. No I can see why as I think thats an unfair contract condition however.

They must inform you within 10 Days of the date of the increase if its to the customers significant detriment i.e. if the price change is up!

So EDF failed to meet the terms of their supply license, a matter for Ofgen and their own T&C's, complaint to Energywatch in the offing there, and finally its an unfair term and condition in my view so complaint to trading standards for that one.

Just thought I should publicise this as I am sure I am not alone in not beng informed correctly.

NB you will have to complain to EDF first and give them 10 Working days to respond but there is an excellent letter wizard on the energywatch website to e-mail your complaint in to them.

EDF have got one day to respond to me before I can make an official complain to Energywatch so watch this space for the results.
I have already complained to Lincs County Trading Stadards.

If anyone wants me to post my complaint to EDF here let me know as it includes links to the EDF Terms and Conditions and the OFGEN supply license standard terms.

Anyone else affected I would strongly urge to complain as we might get the regulator off his a**e if we make enough noise!!!

Ian.
