Paying via Paypal with credit card

Hi. Could anyone explain to me how to change my account with Paypal from bank funded to credit card?

Since becoming verified if I don't have sufficient funds in my account, it takes them from my bank and sometimes I want to pay with my credit card.

Thanks.
Titch :)

You simply add a credit card onto your paypal account once you have logged in and make that the primary method of payment. I have just done the same. The check they do is to place a reference number on your credit card statement, and then you enter that number back into your paypal account screen to 'verify' the card.

    I think ... !
  • Sorry but I already have a credit card added to my paypal account, but how do I switch from method of paying to another?

This happened to me and they automatically charged my card. Cant remember having to do anything special. But it all worked and was easy.

Ah right, in that case on the 'credit card' link you need to select the button containing the card and then click on 'make primary' below it ... I still think ... hehe

If only :)... you got my hopes up there, but my CC is already set to primary and payments still default to my bank account.

As far as I'm aware, you have to manually change your funding option to credit card (there is an option to do this in the checkout) for each paypal payment that you make. If anyone knows a better way to do this without cancelling bank funding altogether, I'm all ears... ;)
  • I have two credit cards registered with my paypal account. These don't appear in the 'More Funding Options'. There are only bank funding and e-cheques boxes. I presume that my credit card option should be shown there as well?

Um, yes it should. Do the cards show up in the credit cards part of your 'Profile' when you log in to paypal?

It's cheaper for paypal to process bank transfers than credit card payments, which I think is why they make us verified people jump through hoops to change our source of funds. Perhaps they are now going to new lengths to encourage bank-funded payments. :rotfl:

I wanted to do it so that I would get better protection from Paypal payments using my CC ... is this actually the case or am I barking up the wrong tree ? That's if I can get my CC working with Paypal of course ....

Sorry to hijack the thread ... I will let you know how I get on when my £1 charge appears ! :-)
