Scottish Equitable Aegon - are they any good?

Does anyone have any experience dealing with this company for insurance in particular life insurance?

Thanks!

Its Aegon Scottish Equitable, or just Aegon as it will be soon as another old brand name goes away.

They are fine. Nothing special, nothing bad. However, I note in your other post that you are getting advice. So customer service, claims history and processing of business as well as quality of product are all taken into account when getting advice. Ask to see the research for the recommendation to check it has been (and not just filtered by price).

My understanding is that with life insurance, the payouts are generally not in dispute.
There is a lot less dispute over whether someone is dead rather than whether they are sick, unable to work etc.

Therefore I've always been advised to go with the cheapest.

I'm not saying it's totally irrelevant, but I think it's less important for life insurance due to the rather easy distinction between life and death (in the vast majoriy of cases).

I use them a lot for mortgage protection. Thier premiums are decent, the process is easy - the only thing is the CLIENT has to sign a declaration BEFORE the policy can go on risk and some often bin it by mistake, despite telling them 100 times to return it.
