Burning an audio cd???

Hi,

I have just downloaded some music and they are in wma format. I have tried to create an audio cd for my car but it's asking for a license to burn it. What/where do I nee to do/go to resolve this?

  • Where did you download it from?

Some sites protect their wma content so that it can only be played on the computer that it was downloaded on, which is annoying for us, but they do it to stop you giving the file to a friend.

Also what application are you using to record as audio. I recommend Roxi Easy Media Creator, but if you don't wanna pay for it, use Windows Media Player.

As I say, first thing, go back to the site you downloaded from (I assume you paid), and check their FAQ's

It was from a forum. It's a cd that was created by a forum member then posted on their site in zip format. I downloaded it (contribution based site) and unzipped it.

    I use nero for burning.

    Where am I going wrong?

  • Can you copy the file and play it on another pc, or an iPod?

If you can, this suggests that the files don't have any content protection. Try using another application to burn. I personally went of Nero some years ago. Media Player is best for now as it'll already be on your computer.

When I check the properties the content is protected.

Is there anything I can do?

ps thanks for helping me out here...

  • Don't always go by what the properties tells you. If you physically can't copy the files and play them off an mp3 player or another pc, then I'll believe its protected.

Beyond what I suggested above, I'm at a loss.

Go back to the forum where u downloaded. It's likely you may not be the only person who's got this problem.

I don't have an mp3 player. is there another way to check if it's protected?

  • Put it on a memory stick, copy it to another computer and try to play it.

The easiest choice right now is go back to the website, and go through the forums. you might even be able to message the person who uploaded it
