Whistling monitor

Apologies, I am sure the answer is here because I've found it before, but I can't find it now!
Colleague has a flat screen monitor which is whistling, ie making very high-pitched noise which is driving me demented!
It's done it before, and I sorted it following advice somewhere on this board, but now it's doing it again and I can't find the thread!
I have checked the leads and tightened them. I have thumped it gently. I have tried altering the display properties from the Control Panel.
Any other bright ideas?
Turning the bally thing off for now, while she's not at her desk!

Who? Oh, you mean me! :rotfl:shadowdragon wrote: »if its at work get tech support to change the monitor,
If it comes to that, I'll give her my monitor and I'll have a new one ... I use it more than she does, is my excuse.
Tempting ...shadowdragon wrote: »failing that work overtime tonight and hit it with a hammer when no ones looking.
I switched it off for a bit, when all my fiddling had failed to cure the problem, and when I switched it back on it had gone quiet.
I'm sure I remember a more scientific approach being suggested last time this happened. Might have involved fiddling with settings. Just not sure which ones, and the ones I've tried didn't help.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Was it the Refresh rate that needed changing?"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

I don't remember it being that last time, but I tried it this time and it didn't seem to help. Changed the pitch slightly ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
