Floor Tiling Rates

Hi all,

Been told that tiling a kitchen floor will cost between £20-£40 per square metre.
What end of this scale is most realistic?
I am in Dundee if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

It can depend on what type of tiles and what type of floor it is going onto, whether adhesives and grout are included. Also can depend on how many square meters are being done as you are likely to get a cheaper meter rate for a larger room.

Its about 12 sq metres, going onto boards covered with plywood if that helps.
  • if it's just ceramic tiles then you'll be about £20-£25psqm

for natural stone fixing then, it's up to the individual doing the tiling, can be as much £40-£45psqm

TBh for floor tiles if he has to lay the ply i would have said about £28-£35 per sqm but i don't know about prices in scotland. That price is inc adhesive and grout.
  • Hmm.. In Edinburgh 2 years ago I used to charge £20 per meter for standard tiles. If the tiles were very small or large then the price went up. Similarly the price went up if there were lots of doorways or fiddly bits that needed cutting round..

maybe I was too cheap..:confused:
  • Hiya,

I'm also in Dundee and if you want PM me and I can give you the contact details of the guy who did my bathroom. It was an all inclusive price, which included fitting the suite, but he made a beautiful job of the tiling and he was quite reasonable to boot to.

Oh and nice to see another Dundonian on the site. :T
