The button doesn't actually change the frequency - it changes the identification code that the set uses.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Say 15w x 4 appliances x 20 hours a day and electricity at 8p/kwh seems to work out as 35 quid per annum for an outlay 17 quid sounds like a winner to me.
But IME this is an incorrect assumption on standby power, out by a factor of more than 3x. There seems to be a lot of scare story propogranda being spread about standby power these days. I would bet there are a lot of other areas to look for improvements first if you want to be greener (esp. other than buying further hardware which has it's own environmental impacts for production and disposal.)0 -
And of course the remote-controlled sockets themselves use power all the time! Best just to make the effort to switch things off at the socket.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Remember each Lidl's only had so many delivered today and when they're gone they're gone - till next time!
£9.99 including a dimmer really does seem an amazing price :jThanks to all who post constructively.

Just picked up a couple of these from South Road store in Dundee.
Stacks left (Tuesday 3pm).
They look better than £40 ones I was looking at before.0 -
Ok, sound great, but Im thinking what use can I put these too?
Any ideas..0 -

Hmm - how are you measuring this? If with one of those Lidl power meters then they won't be accurate for such small numbers. I don't think they consume quite this much.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
You would need to come up with the ideas yourself. We've just had our leather corner suite delivered by SCS, we have a light down in the corner behind it, and it's a pain in the backside trying to reach the socket or the switch to turn it off - that was the initial motivation
Our daughter quite often falls asleep at night, leaving her light and TV on
It is really handy being able to turn all those things off in one go, from one place, with the press of one button, without having to go rummaging around trying to find sockets or switches. Especially in our daughter's bedroom - a hazardous place to venture in daylight, let alone in the wee hours of the morning! :rolleyes:Thanks to all who post constructively.
